Concrete Edgers

Concrete edgers round off the edge of the slab, help control cracking, and leave the concrete looking cleaner and more professional.

Why It Matters

Edgers matter because they give your slab that clean, rounded edge that won’t chip or break off later. A good edge makes the concrete look finished and professional, whether it’s a driveway, sidewalk, patio, or garage floor. It also helps water run off instead of breaking down the edge over time. A clean edge is one of the first things people notice on a job — it’s a small step that makes a big difference in how the whole slab looks and holds up.

Tips & Tricks When Using an Edger

  • Edge right after you strike off and bull float. That first pass knocks the rocks down and gives you a cleaner surface to ride on.

  • Come back for a second pass once the slab tightens up. This keeps the radius clean and prevents the edge from breaking or chipping later.

  • Keep your pressure consistent. Too much pressure digs in; too little won’t form a clean radius.

  • Match your radius sizes. If multiple people are edging, mismatched radii will show up fast. I use a 1/2‑inch radius as my reference.

  • Stay smooth and steady. Jerky movements leave marks — let the tool glide.

  • Keep the blade clean. A dirty edger will drag and leave chatter lines.
